Aida Villaécija
Linguist and Translator
I hold a PhD in Linguistics since 2023. I am involved in the GLiF (Formal Linguistics Research Group), LSC-Lab (Laboratori de la llengua de signes catalana) and Infolex (Institut de Lingüística Aplicada). My research and teaching interests lie on Morphology, Corpus Linguistics and Accessibility, both in Spoken and Sign Languages.
My PhD Dissertation focuses on the analysis and description of LSC morphemes and word formation. I am currently collaborating with the IEC (Institut d'Estudis Catalans) for the creation of the LSC Corpus of Reference and the Lexical Database. As a translator (EN-CAT/ES and CAT/ES-LSC), I also participate in different LSC-Lab projects (translation and subtitling).

Microdiachrony in Endangered Languages across Modalities (MICRODIAC(H)RO)
Pompeu Fabra University
Linguist Research Assistant
We focus on two endangered languages in different modalities, Catalan Sign Language (LSC, Catalonia) and Griko (Italiot-Greek variety of Salento, Southern Italy). We explore how diachronic change can be detected, in a relatively small-time span, and we create research resources in the form of two corpora to study grammatical change.

Interpreter and Linguist Collaborator
The project began in 2012 and consists of preparing the first reference corpus of Catalan Sign Language, as well as linguistic materials in LSC. The corpus will be the research and reference tool for linguists, language professionals and users. My duties are the elaboration of materials and lexicographic records and the revision of the annotations and tagging.

The project consists of the creation of materials in LSC about different fields. These materials are video recordings of Social and Natural Sciences, among other topics, with questions and answers. Sign-Hub is a project funded by the European Commission within the framework of the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation program with a duration of 4 years. A platform with various resources is being created for the linguistic, historical and cultural documentation of the heritage of Deaf and Sign communities. I have participated in the writing of two chapters on the LSC Grammar and in the subtitling of the documentary "We were there, we are here" about the context of the Deaf community in the Civil War, Postwar and World War II.
